Spotlight For Good is our ongoing series dedicated to celebrating the mission, impact, and leadership of our member organizations. Through this series, we reintroduce—or introduce—each organization, share their stories, and highlight upcoming fundraising events that support their important work.

 

May 2026 - SAL Community Services

Today we’re highlighting SAL Community Services, an organization dedicated to strengthening children, families, and individuals through high-quality early care and education, child care resource and referral agencies, and critical support services for immigrants, refugees, and limited-English speakers across a 17-county region.

Join them on May 16 for Touch a Truck! The event is FREE and open to all QC area families & children. Kids will have the chance to get up close and explore real vehicles, including construction trucks, city vehicles, a trolley, and more! It’s a hands-on morning where kids can see, touch, and learn about the vehicles that help our community run every day.

Families can also connect with local organizations and services at community resource tables while enjoying a fun morning together.


May 2026 - Moline Public Schools Foundation

Today we’re highlighting the Moline Public Schools Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting teachers and enhancing student learning through innovative classroom grants—awarding over $50,000 each year for creative projects that make a real impact.

Join them on May 7, 2026 for the Spring Celebration at Old Oaks Winery in Milan!

Enjoy an evening of community, connection, and celebration—all while supporting local teachers and students. From STEM kits to mariachi guitars, MPSF grants help bring inspiring classroom ideas to life across the Moline-Coal Valley School District.

Proceeds from the event directly fund teacher grants for the 2026–27 school year, helping educators continue to meet the evolving needs of today’s students.


April 2026 - Youth Hope

Today we’re highlighting Youth Hope, an organization dedicated to serving at-risk youth in the Quad Cities through Community Outreach, Youth Center, and Camp Summit programs—bringing youth HOPE in Christ.

Join them on April 30, 2026 for the 90th Anniversary Benefit Gala at Bend XPO.

Enjoy an inspiring evening supporting a meaningful cause. Plus, don’t miss the Silent Auction kicking off April 13!

Proceeds from the gala directly benefit YouthHope’s programs, helping provide support, guidance, and more to at-risk youth across our community.


March 2026 - Spring Forward

Today we’re highlighting Spring Forward, an organization dedicated to ensuring every family has equitable access to high-quality out-of-school time learning opportunities that empower lifelong, strengthen family stability, and open pathways to a brighter future.

Join them on April 11, 206 for the Spring Forward Fling: Planting the Seeds of the Future at Mercado on Fifth.

Proceeds from the Spring Forward Fling directly support Spring Forward’s Summer Enrichment Camps providing a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children during summer. These programs help students return to school confident, prepared, and ready to succeed.


March 2026 - Nahant Marsh Education Center

Today we highlight Nahant Marsh Education Center, a 382-acre wetland preserve in southwest Davenport committed to conservation, research, and environmental education. Each year, more than 24,000 people connect with nature through Nahant Marsh's programs and experiences - building awareness, inspiring stewardship, and protecting this vital natural resource for generations to come.

The Oberholtzer Awards honor past, present, and future conservation leaders—amplifying the often-unnoticed work shaping our region’s environmental future. Proceeds support Nahant Marsh’s mission as well as a scholarship for an aspiring conservationist.


February 2026 - Putnam Museum & Science Center

We’re proud to feature the Putnam Museum and Science Center, a cultural and educational cornerstone that has served our region for more than 150 years. Each year, the Putnam provides immersive, hands‑on learning experiences to over 140,000 visitors—including more than 30,000 school and youth group participants—preserving our region’s treasures and inspiring curiosity across all ages.

February 2026 - Hand in Hand

We are thrilled to feature Hand in Hand this month!  They are the only organization in the Quad Cities that offers accessible programs for people of all abilities from ages 6 weeks old through adulthood. Hand in Hand focuses on empowering children and adults of all abilities to learn and grow by providing accessible programs and supporting families.  Everyone is welcome at Hand in Hand!  Some of their program offerings include childcare and preschool, school -age programs, Teens with Purpose, evening and weekend recreation and respite programs, People with Purpose, Camp Hand in Hand, and more.”

The 17th Annual Hand in Hand Cook-Off is coming up on February 7th at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds from 3-6 PM. We want to thank all our sponsors for making this event possible! We greatly appreciate your continued support.

 All proceeds from this event go to support our childcare, school-age care, evening and weekend programs, summer camp, Teens with Purpose, and People with Purpose. Our programs serve people with disabilities and without disabilities in programs together, from 6 weeks of age through adulthood, since 2000.

 Event Details: Saturday, February 7th from 3-6 PM at the Fair Center at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.
