"It was the best of times; it was the worst of times..." The opening lines of Charles Dickens' Tale of Two Cities caught my attention recently because it couldn't be more appropriate today.

This year AFP will commemorate its 50th Anniversary - the best of celebration - but our celebration takes place during the worst of concerns for our clients, organizations, and colleagues struggling during this economic downturn. That is why - more than ever - your involvement in your local AFP chapter is vital. We encourage you to stay active in AFP activities and to utilize the resources available both locally and nationally. For direct access to AFP International, visit www.afpnet.org.

I am privileged to be serving as your president this year, and grateful for the encouragement and support of the executive committee: Jennifer Blohm, Past President; Delia Dreifurst, President-Elect; Lois Kundel, Treasurer; and Jennifer Venema, Secretary. Please welcome these professionals into their roles this year as they lead the Quad Cities Chapter in 2010. Their experience and wisdom will provide great ideas and programs for our AFP members.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2010!

Jamie Lange
President
